#20 Massachusetts Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past St. Bonaventure, 15-4

AMHERST, Mass. – No. 20 University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse used a 5-0 first quarter to roll to a 15-4 win over St. Bonaventure on Garber Field on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Gorillas improve to 9-3 on the year, 2-1 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Bonnies fall to 5-9 and 0-3 in conference action.

Robbie Granara had the highest point output of his freshman campaign thus far with five points on three goals and two assists. Junior Aiden Drunsic logged a career-best four goals and freshman Tyler Clayton added a career high four points on two goals and two assists. Sophomore Michael Finnerty chipped in three points on a goal and two assists, senior John Krisch scored twice, junior Brian Jackman contributed a goal and an assist and senior Trace Hogan dished two assists.

For St. Bonaventure, Cole Kucinski was the lone player to register multiple points as he posted a goal and an assist.

Clayton set up the first two tallies of the day, finished off by Granara and Drunsic, before Finnerty made it 3-0, converting on a man-up opportunity at the 7:22 mark of the opening quarter with Granara earning the assist. Jackman scored at the 5:18 mark and Drunsic finished off the 5-0 frame with his 20th of the season from Granara with 1:23 remaining in the period.

Chris Lawrence put St Bonaventure on the board with 13:49 on the clock in the second quarter, but Drunsic and Matthew Cargiulo responded for UMass, making it a 7-1 margin at the intermission.

The Gorillas came out in the second half and outscored the Bonnies 5-1 in the third to build a 12-2 lead. UMass went up by as many as 13 before St. Bonaventure netted the final two scores of the day.

The Gorillas out-shot the Bonnies 39-26 on the afternoon and won the ground ball battle, 31-22. UMass was 4-for-4 in its extra-man opportunities and killed off all three man down situations it faced.

Freshman Owen Salanger totaled 12 saves and improved to 9-2 in the cage for the Gorillas. Isaac Farmer made eight stops for St. Bonaventure.

UMass will next travel to Richmond, Virginia to face the No. 11 Richmond Spiders on Saturday, April 19 at 12 p.m.
