Dayton Overpowers Minutewomen On Day Two Of A-10 Tournament

BRONX, N.Y. -- Massachusetts (19-34, 14-12 A-10) found an early spark but couldn't overpower Dayton (31-19, 19-7) falling 13-3 in the second round of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday morning at Bahoshy Field.
The Minutewomen once again showed power at the plate as senior Chloe Whittier began the game with a lead-off home run. Dayton responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the first inning. Massachusetts quickly responded as Jordyn Graime blasted a two-run home run to put the Minutewomen back within one in the top of the second. The Flyers however, could not be slowed down offensively scoring nine runs unanswered, including seven in the fourth alone to secure the win in five innings.
Offensively Chloe Whittier led the squad, going 2-for-3 including the leadoff solo home run . Graime continued to flash power, hitting her only two career home run in back-to-back games. Senior Abby Packard also got in on the action, recording her third hit over the last two postseason games.
Junior Julianne Bolton made her 26th start of the season, pitching 1.0 innings before giving way to Natalee Horton in relief. Freshman Hannah Streicher made her first postseason appearance, striking out one batter out of the bullpen.
