Minutewomen Drop Series Finale To Loyola Chicago

CHICAGO, ILL. -- Massachusetts (12-30, 8-10 A-10) fell 5-1 to Loyola Chicago (23-10, 12-8) in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Loyola Softball Park.
Loyola Chicago jumped out to an early lead with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Ramblers tacked on insurance runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to create a 5-0 cushion heading into the final frame. The Minutewomen produced a two-run rally in the top of the seventh, but ultimately fell short in their comeback bid dropping a 5-2 decision. Junior Julianne Bolton received her 20th start of the season, striking out 5 batters across 6.0 innings in the circle. Chloe Whittier continued to be a consistent force at the top of the lineup, going 1-for-4 at the plate including an RBI single in the top of the seventh. Senior Taylor Spexarth remains an effective pinch hitter, going 1-for-1 with a double to spark Massachusetts' two-run seventh inning.
