AMHERST, MASS. -- Massachusetts (11-24, 7-5 A-10) dropped a narrow 2-0 decision to regional rival No. 21 Boston University (32-4) Wednesday afternoon at the BU Softball Field.
Massachusetts owned a 6-4 advantage in hits on the afternoon but fell to BU in a competitive matchup versus a nationally ranked opponent. Sophomore Natalee Horton earned her 12th start in the circle, allowing just two hits while striking out three across 3.0 innings of work. Junior Julianne Bolton came on in relief duty, also allowing only two hits to close out the afternoon. Infielders Bella Pantoja and Abby Packard each recorded two-hit performances at the plate, leading the Minutewomen offensively.
