Minutewomen Suffer Pair of Losses In A-10 Opener At Saint Louis

SAINT LOUIS, MO. -- Massachusetts (4-17, 0-2 A-10) dropped the opening two games of Atlantic 10 play, suffering a pair of defeats to Saint Louis (14-8, 2-0) on Saturday afternoon at Biliken Sports Center.
Massachusetts fell 10-0 to Merrimack in the first matchup of the day. Junior Julianne Bolton got the start for the Minutewomen, allowing just three hits through the first four innings before a breakout fifth gave the Bilikens a 5-0 advantage they did not surrender. Freshman Odyssey Torres led the team offensively tallying a pair of hits without recording a single strikeout.
The Minutewomen dropped the second matchup of the day, falling 12-1 in five innings. Sophomore Natalee Horton got the nod in the circle, pitching two innings before giving way to freshman Hannach Streicher in relief. Senior Sarah Keagy recorded Massachusetts' only RBI of the day, smashing a solo home run to left center in the top of the fourth inning.
