Last time out 

  • The University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team took their second victory in a row as they downed the Boston University Terriers on Saturday afternoon. The Minutewomen took down BU 21-6 moving to 3-1 on the season.
  •  Six Minutewomen tallied multi-goal outings, led by Alex Finn with seven points on a season high five-goals and two assists. Three others notched hat-tricks in the victory. Kendra Harbinger tabbed six points on three goals and three assists, while Fionna McGowan had four points and Kelly Marra notched three.
  • Amy Moreau and Julia Smith each had two goals, while Olivia MuscellaCharlotte Clavelli, and Tessa Shields rounded out the scoring for UMass. With the final goal of the contest, Tessa Shields scored her first collegiate goal in the final seconds of the fourth quarter.

The Series

  • UMass leads the series 14-4, with the first meeting being in 1998 and the most recent contest in 2021, and the last win in 2021. 
  • Massachusetts holds a 6-2 record against the Huskies at home, and an 8-3 record on the road. 
  • UMass split the two 2021 contests with the Huskies, falling on the road 11-12 in OT, followed by the 15-14 OT victory at Garber Field.

The Last Time vs. UConn

  • After erasing a two-goal deficit in the last five minutes of regulation to force extra time, the Massachusetts women's lacrosse team (3-2) completed the comeback in the final seconds of overtime to knock off Connecticut (4-2) on Sunday afternoon at Garber Field, 15-14.
  • Connecticut got the best of the Minutewomen a week prior in Storrs, also in overtime, this time it was UMass coming out of top when Olivia Muscella took a feed from Fiona McGowan and whipped a backhand shot from atop the crease with her back to the cage that beat Huskies goalkeeper with just two seconds left on the clock.
  • Kelly Marra was the star on offense for most of the day for Massachusetts, finishing with five goals and two assists to keep the Minutewomen within striking distance all afternoon. She was joined by Maddy Moloney (two goals, four assists), Cerasi (two goals, one assist), Muscella (two goals) and Haley Connaughton (one goal, one assist), who all logged multi-point efforts.
Head Strong

  • The Massachusetts women's lacrosse program will be participating in the Head Strong Foundations, Hair Havoc game for cancer on March 5 against UConn.

  • Under the Headstrong Foundation, graduate midfielder, Olivia Muscella has created Kendra's Kindness Foundation in honor of her mother. All proceeds from the March 5 contest  will be donated to families effected by cancer in the name of the Kendra's Kindness Foundation. 
Oh Captain, My Captain

  • Olivia Muscella, Brinley Anderson, Haley Connaughton, and Amy Moreau will serve as  the 2022 captains to lead the Minutewomen. 
  • Muscella tallied 33 goals last season for UMass, with 30 draw controls. Her performance in 2021 garnered the respect of the A-10 coaches, earning her preseason A-10 honors.
  • After a prolific spring, Amy Moreau earned herself a Team USA Lacrosse tryout in the summer of 2021 and will lead the midfield group alongside Muscella this season. The senior earned preseason A-10 honors announced by the conference.
  • 2021 A-10 Player of the Year, Haley Connaughton, returns for her victory lap after earning preseason honors for the 2022 season. Connaughton also garnered Inside Lacrosse preseason A-10 Offensive player of the year honors.
  • Brinley Anderson returns and will add to the defensive leadership for the Minutewomen after notching 10 goals in 2021.

Parking

  • During campus hours of operation. M – F, 7:00am – 5:00pm, event parking for Garber Field is available in the Parking Garage, meters or ParkMobile locations. Outside of those days and times, attendees may utilize any non-restricted, non-reserved space campus wide.
