UMass Claims MAC Regular Season Championship With 19-5 Senior Day Win Over Kent State

April 25, 2026 | Women's Lacrosse

The Minutewomen have now won 10 straight games for seven straight seasons

AMHERST, Mass. – The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team led 6-0 before the game was six minutes old, on the way to a dominant 19-5 win over Kent State on Saturday afternoon. On her Senior Day, Norah Prizzi tallied a career-high seven points behind three goals and four assists to lead the offense. The win marked UMass' 10th straight to clinch the outright MAC Regular Season Championship, owning a 14-2 overall record and 7-0 in conference play.

The Minutewomen will now look ahead to the MAC Tournament beginning next Thursday, hosted by Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. UMass will face the fourth-seeded and host Colonials in the semifinals on Thursday at 11 a.m.

UMass has now won 10 straight games for a seventh straight season.

Along with Prizzi's seven points on Saturday, Kassidy Morris had five goals and an assist while Dylan Lyons scored four goals. It marked Lyons' third straight four-goal game, seventh hat trick in a row and 11th consecutive multi-goal game.

Scarlett Cifarelli finished with a UMass career high three assists, while Sienna Diglio posted two groundballs, four caused turnovers and a draw control, along with a career-high two points – both assists.

Lyons and Heather Clark also caused three turnovers as well, with Clark rounding out the scoring with her first-career goal, and point. Emma Dengler posted career highs in goals (2) and points (3) on her Senior Day.

Just 4:37 into Saturday's game, Morris had a hat trick and UMass held a 5-0 lead. The fourth Minutewomen goal featured a pair of defenders connecting as Diglio found Bridget Valentine.

Prizzi's first goal was a sensational behind-the-back tally with 9:40 remaining for a 6-0 advantage, then after more than six minutes without a goal from either side, she gave UMass a 7-0 advantage. The scoring pace slowed down a bit, but the Minutewomen continued to increase their lead. A Katie Peterson goal, from Morris, gave UMass a 10-1 advantage midway through the second quarter. Scores from Lyons and Dengler in the final seconds of the first half gave the Minutewomen a 12-2 halftime lead.

UMass increased its advantage early in the third, scoring four of the first five – the final in that stretch coming from Morris for a 16-3 fourth-quarter lead.

The Minutewomen cruised from there, with Peterson, Dengler and Clark scoring consecutively for a 19-4 advantage, on the way to the 19-5 final.

Final shots were 37-19 in favor of UMass, with groundballs tied at 19 and the Minutewomen holding a 19-7 edge in draw controls. Cate Marshall had 17 draws to reach 141 on the season, which is sixth in program history. The goalkeeping duo of Bayley Duffy (three saves) and Aidan Summer (five stops) combined to top eight of 13 shots sent their way.

The Minutewomen return to action on Thursday at Robert Morris in the MAC Semifinals, with the winner advancing to the championship game (also held at Robert Morris) on Saturday at 12 p.m. All games can be seen on ESPN+.
