September 15, 2021 | Women's Soccer
Chandler Pedolzky scored in the 15th-minute to complete a run of six straight matches unbeaten to conclude non-conference play.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team rounded out non-conference play with a 1-0 shutout win over Yale on Wednesday afternoon at Rudd Field. The Minutewomen (4-2-2 Overall) extended their unbeaten streak to six matches with their third shutout of the season. The unbeaten streak matches the longest for UMass since the 2018 campaign when they won seven straight with a draw for an eight-match unbeaten streak.
Chandler Pedolzky scored the afternoon's only goal in the 15th-minute following a long throw in by Ashley Lamond, who connected with Pedolzky on the near side of the 18-yard box. The forward played a touch around the defender to open up room for a right-footed shot that went just inside the right post for her third goal of the season.
Megan Olszewski recorded her second solo shutout of the season and stopped the only shot on target she faced of Yale's eight attempts on the afternoon. Olszewki's save came on a diving effort in the 41st-minute on a shot by Yale's Rebeka Roth from range.
The Minutewomen attempted eight shots as well on the day, with Pedolzky's goal marking the lone shot on target for UMass. Karina Groff and Lamond each added two shot attempts.
UMass opens up Atlantic 10 play on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match at Duquesne.
