Women’s Soccer Picks Up Fourth Straight Shutout With 0-0 Draw At Miami (OH)

OXFORD, Ohio – University of Massachusetts women's soccer picked up its fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday night after tying with Miami (OH), 0-0, at Bobby Kramig Field.
The Minutewomen move to 5-5-4 overall, including 3-3-2 in the Mid-American Conference, while the Redhawks moved to 7-5-2 on the season and 4-2-2 in the conference.
UMass and Miami (OH) were scoreless through the first 45 minutes of the match. The Redhawks tallied three shots, while the Minutewomen had two. All three of Miami's shots were on goal in the first half.
With a few scoring opportunities, both the Massachusetts and Miami (OH) defenses held strong in the second half to maintain a 0-0 draw. The Minutewomen alone maintained the Redhawks to no shots on goal in the final 45 minutes.
UMass totaled seven shots, as Miami tallied 10. The Minutewomen placed two shots on frame in only the second half, while the Redhawks put three shots on net in the first half only. Massachusetts had the edge in corner kicks, 4-3.
Caroline Dickson had a team-leading three shots, followed by Morgan Bellamy with two, as both Dickson and Bellamy posted a shot on goal. Amelia Bloom and Peyton Costello also registered one shot apiece.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Leah Nisenfeld garnered her fourth straight shutout, and seventh of the season. Through 90 minutes of action, Nisenfeld stopped three shots with no goals allowed. Dominique Popa of Miami (OH) allowed no goals and made two saves in a full 90 minutes played.
The Minutewomen head to Toledo, Ohio, to face Toledo on Sunday, October 19, at 1 p.m., on ESPN+.
