Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Contest At Toledo

The Minutewomen return to Rudd Field on Sunday, Oct. 26, for a 1 p.m. game against Ohio.
TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Massachusetts women's soccer dropped a 1-0 match to Toledo on Sunday afternoon at Paul Hotmer Field.
The Minutewomen move to 5-6-4 overall, including 3-4-2 in the Mid-American Conference, while the Rockets improved to 4-5-6 on the season and 1-4-4 in the league.
Toledo scored first to take an early 1-0 lead. Emma Rhoades notched a goal on pass from Kaema Amachree and Hailee Maynard at the 13:31 mark to put the Rockets ahead. The shots were even at four apiece, including two shots on goal each.
Massachusetts had a few scoring opportunities through the final 45 minutes but were unable to capitalize. The Minutewomen defense held strong, though, maintaining the Rockets to only one goal for a final score of 1-0.
Toledo outshot UMass, 10-7, including 5-2 with shots on goal. Massachusetts had the edge in corner kicks, 11-2, including seven alone in the first half to Toledo's one.
Peyton Costello and Annie McCaffrey led the team in shots with two each, as Costello placed both of her shots on frame. Sarah DeFreitas, Caroline Dickson, and Aline Traber all tallied one shot.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Leah Nisenfeld allowed one goal and made four saves on the day for the Minutewomen. Agnes Stenlund of Toledo did not allow a goal and stopped two shots.
The Minutewomen finish the regular season with two home matches, first taking on Ohio on Sunday, October 26 at 1 p.m., before hosting Bowling Green on Wednesday, October 29, at 1 p.m. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+.
