AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer drew Eastern Michigan to a scoreless tie on Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field.
The Minutewomen move to 5-5-3 overall, including 3-3-1 in the Mid-American Conference, while the Eagles moved to 4-6-4 on the season and 2-2-4 in the conference.
UMass and Eastern Michigan remained scoreless after the first 45 minutes of the match. The Minutewomen had the edge in shots, 5-3 over the Eagles, with neither team placing a shot on goal.
The second half saw more scoring chances for both Massachusetts and Eastern Michigan, but neither team was able to capitalize, bringing the game to a 0-0 draw. UMass took 10 shots in the final 45 minutes, including eight on goal, while the Eagles took seven with three on net.
UMass in total took 15 shots with the eight shots on goal, as Eastern Michigan tallied 10 shots overall, placing three on goal. The Minutewomen earned four corner kicks to the Eagles two.
Amelia Bloom led the team in shots with a season-high six, followed by Peyton Costello with a career-best four. Both Bloom and Costello recorded three shots each on goal. Morgan Bellamy added two shots, all on goal.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Leah Nisenfeld earned her sixth clean sheet of the year, marking her third consecutive shutout. With no goals allowed, Nisenfeld made three saves. Ella Holland of Eastern Michigan stopped eight shots, while also not allowing a goal.
The Minutewomen prepare for their final two road MACtion matches of the regular season, taking on Miami (OH) on Thursday, October 16 at 7 p.m. at Oxford, Ohio, before heading to Toledo, Ohio, to face Toledo on Sunday, October 19, at 1 p.m.
