Women’s Soccer Drops Final Regular Season Match To Bowling Green

The Minutewomen finish the season with a 5-8-4 overall record.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer fell to Bowling Green, 3-1, at Rudd Field on Wednesday afternoon in the final match of the regular season.
The Minutewomen closed out the regular season with a 5-8-4 overall record, including a 3-6-2 record in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons improved to 9-2-8 on the season and 4-1-7 in the league.
Bowling Green got on the board first early in the first half. Emma Stransky put the ball into the back of the net at the 7:34 mark to make it a 1-0 game after a pass from Minah Syam.
In the second half, the Falcons added to their tally off a goal by Gabby Lamparty at the 46:19 mark. Lexi White made the score 3-0 in favor of the falcons off a pass from Audrey Oliver.
Caroline Dickson notched her third goal of the year for the Minutewomen at the 78:43 mark to make it a 3-1 game. Despite a few more opportunities for UMass, Bowling Green was able to come out on top, 3-1.
Bowling Green outshot Massachusetts, 15-10, as the Falcons placed seven of those shots on frame and the Minutewomen had five on goal. Bowling Green had the advantage in corner kicks, 9-2.
Sarah DeFreitas and Caroline Dickson led the team in shots with two apiece, followed by Peyton Costello, Emma Burke, Annie McCaffrey all tallied one shot each.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Leah Nisenfeld made five saves, while allowing three goals for the full 90 minutes in net. Payton O'Malley allowed only one goal and stopped four shots through 90 minutes of action.
