Been A While
- UMass men's lacrosse ended a 368-day streak between games played when it defeated Fairfield, 13-9 on Sun., March 14.
- This is the longest gap between games in program history, which dates back to 1954.
- Massachusetts last started a season on or after March 14 in 1995 when it opened at No. 1 Virginia on March 19.
- The 1995 season was current 27th-year head coach Greg Cannella's first at the helm of the program.
Rolling Squad Deep
- Massachusetts began the season with 49 student-athletes on its roster.
- The 49 student-athletes represent the largest roster in program history.
- It includes six graduate students, seven seniors, nine juniors, 13 sophomores and 14 freshmen.
Senior Day
- Massachusetts will host Senior Day for its the classes of 2020 and 2021 prior to the game against Towson with a short, on-field ceremony
- UMass will honor the seven members of its Class of 2020: Cameron Carpenter, Charlie O'Brien, Dan O'Brien, Billy Philpott, Devin Spencer, Jackson Suboch and Jeff Trainor who were unable to have their Senior Day ceremony in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Six of the seven returned to compete as graduate students in 2021, including Carpenter, Charlie O'Brien, Philpott, Spencer, Suboch and Trainor.
- Massachusetts will also recognize its seven-member Class of 2021: Joe Casucci, Chris Connolly, Kevin Cutinella, Sam Eisenstadt, Clayton Proctor, Jack Siebert and Kevin Tobin. The Class of 2021 retains an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic and members may opt to return for competition as graduate students in 2022.
Doing The Family Proud
- Graduate student midfielder and attack Devin Spencer leads UMass with 19 points through six games. He has five goals and a team-best 14 assists and averages the 20th-most assists per game in NCAA Division I (2.33).
- Spencer's 14 assists already surpassed his single-season career best of 13 dished during the 15-game 2019 season. He posted a single-game best of six points (two goals, four assists) at Hofstra on March 30, 2021.
- Spencer is the younger brother of Ben Spencer (2016-19), who also played for Massachusetts, and is the son of Ted Spencer, a UMass letterman in 1985 and 1986.
Shoot Till You Make, Shoot Till You Miss
- UMass scored on 76 of its 222 shots through six games this season (.342).
- It's sixth overall in the country this season.
- No one individual shooter carries the average though three players rank in the top-65.
- It includes Gabriel Procyk (28th; .438), Billy Philpott (47th; .407) and Jeff Trainor (64th; .389).
