Softball Wraps Up Regular Season With Series At George Mason

The Opponent
George Mason heads into the weekend with a 21-25 overall record and a 9-11 mark in Atlantic 10 play after defeating St. Bonaventure in the final two games of the series the last time out. The Patriots are led by Saige Cisler (.327) and Alyssa Lawton (.327) at the plate while Bekah Ansbro and Marina Vitalich have ERAs of 2.38 and 2.69 respectively. UMass won both games of the shortened series in Amherst a year ago, capping off the doubleheader with an eight-inning win behind a Riley Gregoire walk-off hit in the bottom of the inning.

Last Time Out
The Minutewomen played their final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday at Sortino Field, using a Danielle Ellis walk-off two-RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Providence 5-4. In its last Atlantic 10 action, UMass took games two and three from Fordham behind two complete game efforts from Quinn Breidenbach as the Minutewomen secured the series win on Sunday with a 4-1 win.

One More Hit
Senior Erin Stacevicz needs just one more hit to take over the third spot on the UMass career hit list as the outfielder currently sits tied with Holly Aprile (1989-92) at 235. Samantha Cardenas (1994-97) holds the second spot with 242 hits. Stacevicz also ranks ninth in career runs scored (138) and batting average (.352).

200 Hits
Senior Kaitlyn Stavinoha became the 16th player in program history to reach 200 career hits, passing Jena Cozza (2014-18) and Scooter Wheeler (1999-02) on the list while trailing Mandy Galas (1996-99) and Brandi Cross (2000-03) for 14th all-time with 202 hits. Just four more hits will slide Stavinoha into 12th all-time.

Atlantic 10 Softball Championship
UMass hosts the 2019 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship on May 8-11 at Sortino Field. The top-six teams in the final conference standings qualify with the top-two seeds receiving a first-round bye into Thursday as seeds 3-6 play their first game on Wednesday in the double elimination tournament.
