No. 24 Women's Lax Heads To Marist Wednesday

Minutewomen face Red Foxes as part of two-game week.
AMHERST, Mass. – Looking to bounce back after a tough match-up at Yale, the No. 24 UMass women's lacrosse team heads to Marist on Wednesday (4 PM).

This will only be the fourth game between the two teams with UMass having won the three previous meetings. The Minutewomen defeated Marist 23-7 in their first meeting in Poughkeepsie in the 2011 season. UMass also won last season's meeting defeating the Red Foxes 10-7.

Hannah Burnett leads UMass (1-2) offensively with 10 goals alongside Holly Turner who has seven goals and three assists. Burnett scored six goals in the season-opener win against Dartmouth along with two each against Boston College and Yale. Turner totaled five goals against Boston College and an assist against Yale. Kaitlyn Cerasi also picked up offensively with three goals against Yale giving her five on the year.

Burnett now has 105 career goals in the 45 games at UMass after transferring from Florida. Turner is only three points from reaching the 200-point mark and in need of only five more assists to hit 100 in her career.

Undefeated Marist (2-0) has defeated Vermont and Army West Point, with notable players including sophomore Samantha Mehalick who scored six goals against West Point. In goal, freshman Delany Galvin has a 8.5 goals-against-average and a .541 save percentage.Â

Following Wednesday's game, UMass will continue its six-game road trip at UConn on Saturday, March 3 at 1 PM.
