No. 24 Women’s Lax Rolls Past Marist 19-10

Minutewomen improve to 2-2 overall; head to UConn on Saturday.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – A balanced offensive attack featuring eight different goal scorers highlighted the No. 24 UMass women's lacrosse team's 19-10 win at Marist on Wednesday afternoon. The Minutewomen improved to 2-2 on the year and will next play at UConn on Saturday (1 PM).
Cassidy Doster led all UMass with a career-high four goals while Holly Turner, Hannah Burnett, and Kiley Anderson each had three. Kaitlyn Cerasi notched a pair of goals and three assists for a game-high five points. Anderson also added a game-high nine draw controls.
Lauren Hiller made 10 saves in goal for the win.
Marist (2-1) was led by four goals from Lauren Mazza and two goals from both Hailey Wagner and Samantha Mehalick.
The Minutewomen held a 48-33 shot advantage for the game and an 18-to-12 edge in draw controls. UMass also committed just 12 turnovers in the game compared to 22 for the Red Foxes.
UMass led 10-4 at halftime thanks in part to scoring six consecutive goals over the first 16 minutes of play. Marist finally cracked the scoreboard at the 12:20 mark of the first half.
In the second half, Anderson scored three straight goals followed by a pair from Burnett giving UMass a 16-6 lead with 17:15 to go.
Ally Murphy and Doster each scored in the final 2:30 of play to give the final score.
