ITA Recognizes UMass Tennis for Academic Success

Minutewomen lauded with All-Academic Team status, five individuals honored
TEMPE, Ariz. - University of Massachusetts tennis was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic Team recently, while five Minutewomen garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete status in Janja Kovacevic, Julia Larson, Laura Moreno, Anna Woosley and Ana Yrazusta. UMass earned the team-wide award for having a combined GPA at or above 3.2 overall, while Kovacevic, Larson, Moreno, Woosley and Yrazusta all sported 3.5 GPAs or higher for their individual laurels.
This marks the third consecutive season for UMass to earn the team honor and the second straight year five players have been honored individually.
Kovacevic finished the 2017 slate 12-10 overall in singles and teams with Yrazusta for a 17-8 doubles mark. Yrazusta was dominant in singles action throughout the spring with 19-8 record, including a perfect 4-0 ledger against Atlantic 10 opposition.
Moreno posted four victories in singles - three at No. 5 and one at No. 6 - partnered with Ashley Avery, Martina Bocchi and Brittany Collens for a combined 9-4 doubles record. Woosley totaled 15 victories during singles play and teamed with Ruth Crawford for a 14-10 doubles record. Larson did not compete during the spring season.
UMass is coming off a 12-8 campaign which saw the Minutewomen claim the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship title and reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001.
