Fairleigh Dickinson Travels for Softball Doubleheader

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts softball (12-15, 2-1 A-10) will host a doubleheader, Wednesday, April 5, against Fairleigh Dickinson (1-16). Game times are set for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Sortino Field.
 
A Look Back
The Minutewomen traveled to Washington, D.C. last weekend, April 1-2, for a three-game series with George Washington. They posted a 2-1 record and junior Meg Colleran earned two victories. UMass fell 4-0 in Saturday's first game but defeated the Colonials, 4-1, in game two. UMass wrapped up the weekend with a seventh-inning comeback and 4-3 victory.
 
Atlantic 10 Roundup
As a squad, Massachusetts ranks No. 3 in the league with five triples and No. 3 with 38 successful stolen bases. Freshman Candace Denis' .181 opposing batting average and 1.98 ERA rank No. 1 and No. 3 in the Atlantic 10, respectively.
 
The Knights
Fairleigh Dickinson sits at 1-16 after dropping a doubleheader at Saint Francis on Mon., April 3. 13 of FDU's last 15 games have been cancelled or postponed due to weather.
 
In The Circle
Denis paces the Minutewomen with 85.0 innings pitched and 10 complete games. Her ERA of 1.98 places third in the Atlantic 10 in 13 appearances with 12 games started and ranks No. 1 with an opposing batting average of .181. Junior Meg Colleran has started 13 games for a total of 75.1 innings pitched and a 3.62 ERA.
 
Sophomore Studs
Sophomores Kaycee Carbone, Kaitlyn Stavinoha and Erin Stacevicz are off to a strong start for the Minutewomen. Stavinoha leads the team with a .366 batting average, 22 RBI and one home run. She has accumulated seven multi-hit games and leads the team with four multi-RBI games.
 
Carbone leads the team with her seven-straight on-base game streak, and she also maintained a five-game hitting streak this season. She's No. 4 on the squad with a batting average of .253.
 
Stacevicz's .333 batting average is good for No. 2 on the team with 32 hits and 20 runs scored. She leads the team with now eight multi-hit games and put together a nine-game hitting streak to open the season (Feb. 17-March 4).
