Minutewomen Head South to Bulldog Slamboree

AMHERST, Mass. – Head coach Kristi Stefanoni and University of Massachusetts softball (2-8) will travel March 3-5 for the Bulldog Slamboree, hosted by Mississippi State, at Nusz Park.
UMass will open Friday with Central Arkansas and Mississippi State at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET and 5:30 p.m. CT/6:30 p.m. ET, respectively. On Saturday, the Minutewomen face Samford at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. Bracket play games are set for 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Match-Ups
On Friday, UMass plays its first game of the day vs. Central Arkansas at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET. The Bears are 4-10 after playing in the Central Arkansas Invitational last weekend. Freshman Kaylyn Shepherd leads the team with a .324 batting average.
The Minutewomen will face Mississippi State at 5:30 p.m. CT/6:30 p.m. ET in their second game of the day. The Bulldogs are 11-3 coming off the February Freezer Tournament.
The Minutewomen face Samford at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET on Saturday. The Bulldogs hold a record of 4-11, including two wins at the Samford/UAB Classic in Birmingham, Alabama.
In The Circle
Junior Meg Colleran has made six appearances, including five starts, for the Minutewomen this season. Freshmen Maddie Sadler, Candace Denis and Quinn Breidenbach have also recorded starts for UMass.
Swing Away
Sophomore Erin Stacevicz leads the team with a .364 batting average. She has recorded 12 hits and two RBI this season.
