Softball Falls To Kansas, 4-1

ATLANTA, Ga.-- The University of Massachusetts softball team fell to Kansas by a score of 4-1 in the first game of the Lead Off Classic, on Feb 23, in Atlanta, Ga.
UMass was held to three hits by Kansas pitcher Kara Pierce. The Minutewomen scored their lone run of the game when freshman catcher Jamie Cahalan (Mesa, Ariz) singled in sophomore Brandi Cross (Diamond Bar, Calif.), who led of the inning with a double.
UMass junior pitcher Jen Hadley (Bristol, Conn.) had four strikeouts, giving up seven hits and four earned runs.
the Minutewomen return to action later today when they take on Arizona State at 2:30 p.m.
