Joshua Arndt enters his first year on the UMass coaching staff in 2017-18 after graduating from the University of Indiana in 2017, where he spent four years on the swimming and diving team.

“I am incredibly excited to become a part of the family here at UMass,” said Arndt. “I am honored to have the opportunity to work in the program alongside some fantastic coaches and I look forward to to sharing my experience and knowledge to help build upon an already strong program.”

At Indiana, Arndt earned All-America honors in the 3-meter dive at the NCAA Championships in 2016 as a junior, where he finished fourth with a score of 419.05. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Arndt put together two top-five finishes at the Big Ten Championships during his junior campaign with a third place finish in the 3-meter dive while finishing fifth in the 1-meter dive.

“We’re very pleased to have Josh take over the leadership of our diving program,” said UMass Head Coach Russ Yarworth. “His competitive experience diving at Indiana with Coach Johannsen and his coaching development will certainly keep UMass Diving at a very successful level.”

As a prep athlete at La Porte High School in the state of Indiana, Arndt became the first diver to win consecutive Indiana High School Athletic Association state titles in 20 years in 2012 and 2013.

Arndt graduated from Indiana in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Health Science.
