Massachusetts Men’s Swim & Dive Place Six On MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

Boukarroum, Keeler, Kreidler, Quigg, Rayson and Shepston were all named to the Scholar-Athlete Team.

ST. LOUIS – Six members of the University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team were placed on the Missouri Valley Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon.

Seniors Sammy Quigg and Aidan Shepston, junior Jude Boukarroum, and sophomores Chase Keeler, Alex Kreidler and Liam Rayson all were named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.

Quigg, a mechanical engineering major, placed 10th in the 50 freestyle (20.39) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (44.07) with season-best times at the MVC Championships. In the 200 freestyle, the Merritt Island, Florida, native, took 11th with a personal-best time of 1:37.79. He also anchored the fifth-place 200 freestyle relay team (1:20.56), the fourth-place 400 freestyle relay team (2:56.70) and the fifth-place 400 medley relay team (3:14.61), as all three relays set a new program record. Quigg membered the 800 freestyle relay team that finished fourth with a time of 1:36.12.

A computer science and system engineering major, Shepston finished 12th in the 50 freestyle (20.53) at the MVC Championships, before placing 15th with a season-best time of 45.54 in the 100 freestyle. He also placed 17th in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 49.33. He was the leadoff the program record setting 200 freestyle relay team (1:20.56) that took fifth, earning a personal-best split time of 20.47 in the 50 freestyle. The Broomfield, Colorado, native, also membered the 400 freestyle relay team (2:56.70) that placed fourth and the fifth-place 200 medley relay team (1:28.09) that set program records.

Boukarroum, a mechanical engineering major, was 16th in the 200 freestyle with a personal-best time of 1:40.17, before finishing 10th in the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 4:28.75, at the MVC Championships. In the 1650 freestyle, the Brookfield, Connecticut, native, placed seventh with a season-best time of 15:45.03. He membered the 800 freestyle relay team that took fourth with a time of 1:38.30.

Keeler, a mechanical engineering major, sat sixth in the 200 backstroke (1:46.37), after placing fourth in the prelims of the event with a personal-best time of 1:45.85 at the MVC Championships. In the 200 individual medley, the Laytonsville, Maryland, native was 11th with a season-best time of 1:48.99, before finishing seventh in the 400 individual medley with a personal-best time of 3:52.81.

Kreidler, a biomedical engineering major, placed fourth in the one-meter dive at the MVC Championships with a score of 296.40. He also took 10th in the three-meter dive with a six-dive total of 320.75.

A hospitality and tourism management major, Rayson finished the 100 freestyle (45.93) in 23rd and the 200 freestyle (1:38.66) in 13th, marking personal-best times in both. The Herndon, Virginia, had a season-best time of 1:51.79 to take 18th in the 200 butterfly. He also anchored the 800 freestyle relay team that finished fourth with a time of 1:38.51.
