Women’s Swim & Dive Sets School Record On Day Two Of MAC Championships

The Minutewomen’s 400 medley relay team set a program record with a time of 3:41.51.
AKRON, Ohio – University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team completed day two of the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships on Thursday evening at the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium.
Sophomore Maria Grishaeva advanced to the finals of the 200 individual medley, placing 10th in the event with a time of 2:01.49. Grishaeva moved on to the finals after earning 11th in the preliminary round with a time of 2:02.49.
The 400 medley relay team consisting of Grishaeva, junior Lindsay Burbage, sophomore Karinne Everly and junior Beren Cakiroglu combined for a time of 3:41.51to take sixth, which marked a new program record. The mark broke the previous school record of 3:42.23 held by Megan Mitchell, Maggie Desmond, Summer Pierce and Caroline Mahoney from the 2023-24 season.
Grishaeva registered a personal-best of 55.28 as the leadoff in the 100 backstroke in the relay, marking the third best time in program history.
During the preliminaries, sophomore Hannah Schoenauer (5:02.30) and juniors Ece Yildirim (5:04.61) and Sophie Porter (5:09.29) all registering season-bests in the 500 freestyle.
Sophomore Courtney Tedesco swam a personal-best time of 23.37 in the 50 freestyle prelims, which marked the sixth best time all-time, before Cakiroglu clocked a time a personal-best time of 23.45 that was the eighth best mark in program history in the event. Everly (23.86) and freshman Kate Baranova (24.29) also posted personal bests in the 50 freestyle preliminary round.
On The Boards
Sophomore Danielle Guerin placed 12th in the one-meter dive finals with a total of 251.65. Guerin placed ninth in the prelims to advance with a score of 253.60.
