AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's and women's swimming and diving teams prepare for the Atlantic 10 Championships on Wednesday, February 19 through Saturday, February 22, at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Virginia.
2024 Atlantic 10 Championships
Last season, the Minutemen finished second in the event with a score of 455.50, while the Minutewomen placed seventh with 296 points.
Day one of the A-10 Championships saw two medals as the women's 200 medley relay team picked up the bronze with a school record time of 1:40.06, and Andrew Bell secured the gold in the one-meter with a six-dive total of 381.75.
On day two, UMass broke four school records between both the men's and women's teams. A program record was set in the prelims of the women's 50 freestyle (22.84) by former Minutewomen Maggie Desmond, while the women's 200 freestyle relay team combined for a new record time of 1:32.00. For the Minutemen, former swimmer Sam Haddad broke his ow previous record in the men's 200 individual medley with a time of 1:47.60, before Sammy Quigg swam a school record time of 20.17 in the men's 50 freestyle.
The Minutemen claimed two more medals on the third day of competition, as Haddad earned bronze in the 400 individual medley (3:49.90) and Bell took the gold I the three-meter dive (406.95). Additionally, Massachusetts posted five school records.
The final day of the A-10 Championships saw 15 members earn top-10 all-time placements in the record book, including four school records.
Bell was named the A-10 Most Outstanding Men's Diver of the Year, while diving coach Missy Bernosky tabbed the Men's Diving Coach of the Year honors.

Weekly Honors
Quigg tabbed the first Atlantic 10 weekly honor, being named the A-10 men's Performer of the Week on October 9. It marked his third weekly honor of his career. Quigg broke a pool record in the Minutemen's first meet of the season against Boston College, swimming a new record time of 20.34 at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., Pool, in the 50 freestyle to claim the gold medal, before placing first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.24.
During the relay events, the junior anchored the 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish with a combined time of 1:33.34. Quigg also anchored the 200 freestyle relay team that grabbed the silver with a time of 1:24.51.
Bell collected the A-10 men's Performer of the Week honor three times this season, marking his fifth, sixth and seventh career accolades. Earning the award on October 15, the junior helped the Minutemen to a second-place finish at the Justin Jennings Invitational, hosted by Colgate, over the weekend after picking up two gold medals. Bell finished first in the three-meter dive with a six-dive total, and season-best, of 386.85, while placing first in the one-meter dive event with a score of 355.90. Both of his scores broke previous pool records from 1987 and 1994.
He tabbed the award on October 22, as Bell sat atop the podium in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events in UMass' scrimmage against Yale. In the one-meter, he scored a 371.93, while totaling a 393.98 in the three-meter event.
On November 12, Bell grabbed his third award of the year, after securing first place in both the three-meter and one-meter dive in a dual meet at Boston University. In the three-meter event, he had a season-best score of 429.23, while recording a season-best six-dive total of 399.60 in the one-meter event.
Bell once again secured A-10 Performer of the Week on January 15 as he took first place in both the one-meter (360.08) and three-meter (384.75) dive as the Minutemen took on Bryant. He also competed at the USA Diving Winter Nationals in December. In the one-meter preliminary round, Bell placed 11th with a six-dive total of 306.70. He totaled a 295.45 in the three-meter preliminary round to take 21st.
Freshman Chase Keeler earned his first career weekly accolade after being named the A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week on November 26. Keeler took sixth in the 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 1:51.21. The freshman swam into 11th with a personal-best time of 4:01.29 in the 400 individual medley, while claiming fifth in the 200 backstroke with a personal-best time of 1:49.11. He also cracked into the top 10 in the A-10 Conference in the 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley and the 200 backstroke.
During the relay events, Keeler led off the 400 medley relay team that placed 400 medley relay team to a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:21.55. He also helped his 200 medley relay team to 10th with a time of 1:32.35.
Khrystyna Yaremyn collected her first A-10 weekly honor of her career after taking first in the three-meter dive with a score of 270.60. In the one-meter, Yaremyn was second with a six-dive total of 248.48.
