Massachusetts Swimming & Diving Finish Day One Of Atlantic 10 Championships

A-10 Championships continue Thursday, Feb. 20, with the preliminary events beginning at 10 a.m.
HAMPTON, Va. - The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team finished day one of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Wednesday afternoon at the Hampton Aquaplex with the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay.
Additionally, the Minutewomen divers competed in the one-meter dive.
Day two of the A-10 Championships will take place on Thursday, February 20, starting at 10 a.m. with the preliminary events, followed by the event finals at 6 p.m.
Women's Swimming & Diving
The 200 medley relay team of graduate student Bri Williams, sophomore Lindsay Burbage, graduate student Ashley Calderon and freshman Courtney Tedesco combined for a time of 1:41.96 to take seventh.
The 800 freestyle relay team consisting of freshman Elizabeth Lahmann, sophomore Beren Cakiroglu, freshman Hannah Schoenauer and senior Anna Kwon placed eighth with a time of 7:25.80.
Men's Swimming & Diving
The men's 200 medley relay team of senior Beau Bengston, freshman Nate Derby, senior Grant Beebe and junior Aidan Shepston swam a time of 1:29.43 to finish eighth in the event.
In the 800 freestyle relay, freshman Daniel Strumidlo, sophomore Alonso Montori, junior Sammy Quigg and sophomore Cole Brooks placed fifth with a combined time of 6:36.69 to round out the day one events.
On The Boards
The day began with the preliminaries of the one-meter dive, as freshman Danielle Guerin (247.75) and junior Shreeya Sinha (216.95) placed third and 15th, respectively, to advance into the finals.
Guerin finished the one-meter dive in fourth with a total of 267.40 in the championship finals, while Sinha claimed ninth with a six-dive total of 261.25. Sinha's score was first in the consolation final bracket, making her a B-Final champion.
