Men’s Swim & Dive Record Six All-Time Marks On Day Two Of The MVC Championships

The Minutemen post five all-time individual records, while the 200 medley relay team set a new school record of 1:28.09.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team finished day two of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Thursday evening at the Deaconess Aquatic Center, posting five all-time individual marks and setting a program record in the 200 medley relay.
Freshman Hudson Bawduniak raced into 10th-place in the 100 butterfly with a personal-best time of 48.37, which marked the second-best record in program history. Junior Cole Brooks (49.28) and senior Aidan Shepston (49.33) followed in 14th and 17th, while junior Aydin Erkan finished 18th with a personal-best time of 49.38.
Sophomore Chase Keeler recorded the second-best time in program history in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:52.81 to finish seventh in the event. Freshman Miles Smyczek placed 23rd with a season-best time of 4:06.03.
In the 200 freestyle, senior Sammy Quigg earned 11th after swimming a personal-best time of 1:37.79, recording the sixth all-time mark in program history. Sophomore Liam Rayson (1:38.66) and junior Jude Boukarroum (1:40.17) took 13th and 16th, respectively, while sophomore Daniel Strumidlo finished 21st with a personal-best time of 1:39.67.
The 200 medley relay team set a new program record, as Brooks, Bawduniak, Shepston and freshman Macek Vandermolen all swam a time of 1:28.09 to place fifth. The mark broke the previous school record of 1:28.22 set by Michael Tartakovsky, Al Madden, Will Munstermann and Ryan Pedrick from the 2019-20 season.
In the preliminaries, Brooks finished with 11th in the 100 butterfly to advance to the finals with a personal-best time of 48.83 that tied for sixth in the all-time records. Rayson posted a personal-best in the 200 freestyle preliminaries with a time of 1:38.33, to rank eighth all-time. Boukarroum registered a personal-best with a time of 1:39.03.
