Minutewomen Compete in Day Two of Bevo Classic

AUSTIN, Texas -- Massachusetts (3-6) battled against two of the top-ranked teams in the country on Saturday, falling short against #8 Texas Tech (8-2) and #1 Texas (9-0) in Day Two of the Bevo Classic.
The Minutewomen dropped a 3-0 decision to Texas Tech in their rematch from Friday. Natalee Horton pitched all six innings for UMass, surrendering only two earned runs against one of the most prolific offenses in the nation. The Massachusetts offense was unable to get any momentum against the Red Raiders, as Texas Tech's Samantha Lincoln threw the fifth perfect game in program history.
Massachusetts then faced off against the top-ranked team in the country, Texas, in a 6-0 loss. Riley Kairer recorded a double on the day, with Odyssey Torres and Katharine Heslin each tallying base hits. Hannah Streicher pitched 3.2 innings in relief, striking out two while only letting in one earned run.
