UMass' Knote Tabbed All-New England First Team

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts goalkeeper Matt Knote has been named to the NEILA All-New England First Team, it was announced recently. Knote earns the recognition for the second time in his career after also earning a First Team spot in 2023.
Previously this spring Knote was selected as an Honorable Mention USA Lacrosse All-American. He earned a major conference award for a second straight year in 2024 after being selected as the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. The Speonk, New York native picked up his fourth all-conference recognition this season after also being named to the CAA First Team in back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022 and to the A-10 First Team in 2023.
In 2024, Knote ended his final collegiate campaign 13th nationally in save percentage (.553), second in the A-10 and the conference leader in saves per-game at 13.00, good for 13th nationally, while ranking 22nd nationally in goals-against average (10.68).
He posted 12 double-digit save to contribute to his total of 185 stops on the year and logged 31 ground balls and two caused turnovers. Knote scored a full-field length highlight reel goal against Vermont on March 9 for his first tally of his career.
Knote finished his career with the Gorillas having played in 59 games over five seasons and a total of 3507:32 minutes. He posted a 10.47 goals against average and a .551 save percentage with a record of 31-28 and leaves UMass ranked third all-time in career saves with 752.
