UMass' Salanger Earns Honorable Mention All-America Recognition From USA Lacrosse

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse sophomore goalkeeper Owen Salanger has been named an Honorable Mention USA Lacrosse All-American for the second time in his career, it was announced on Thursday. All-Americans were chosen by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors with input from coaches and conferences across the country. The Gorillas are one of 38 teams represented on this year's list.
Salanger, who was previously named the Atlantic 10 Goalkeeper of the Year and to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, finished the season ranked seventh nationally in save percentage at 56.9% and third in the nation in saves per-game (14.00). The Liverpool, New York native started all 16 games for UMass in his sophomore campaign, posting a 10-6 record with a 10.68 goals against average and 223 saves. He averaged 15 saves per-game in A-10 action, holding a .581 save percentage and a 10.55 GAA.
A two-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week this season Salanger had 10 or more saves 15 times in 16 games, posting 15 or more stops seven times. He made 23 saves in a win over Brown, the most by a UMass goalkeeper in at least 25 years and the fourth highest save total by a goalkeeper in the nation this season.
