Massachusetts Defeats UNCG On Day One In Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Massachusetts (4-12) split its first two games in North Carolina, defeating tournament host UNCG (12-12) before falling in a tight one-run game to Charleston Southern (11-10) on Friday at UNCG Softball Stadium.
The Minutewomen claimed a 7-2 victory over the Spartans recording nine hits in Friday's morning matchup. Junior Julianne Bolton pitched her fourth complete game of the season, tallying six strikeouts while allowing just five hits. Bolton also contributed at the plate, driving home two runs on a double threw the left center gap in the third inning. Catcher Lydia Castro led the Minutewomen offensively, recording two RBIs on two hits including a double in the top of third. Junior Taylor Richardson also made an impact with the bat, earning her first two hit game of the 2024 campaign.
Massachusetts continued the days double-header dropping a one-run pitchers dual 3-2 to Charleston Southern. Sophomore Natalee Horton recorded her third complete game of the year, allowing just two hits while striking out four batters on 112 total pitches.
