Women’s Lacrosse Falls At Dartmouth, 15-9

Kassidy Morris and Fiona McGowan each finished with a hat trick while Charlotte Wilmoth added two goals and an assist.

HANOVER, N.H. The University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team fell on the road at Dartmouth on Tuesday afternoon, 15-9. Kassidy Morris led UMass with three goals to mark her fourth consecutive hat trick while Fiona McGowan added three goals of her own.
 
Lil Hancock opened the scoring for UMass with her third goal of the year with 5:29 to go in the first after the Big Green scored two consecutive to begin play. Dartmouth added three straight goals to end the quarter and led 5-1 after the first 15 minutes of play.
 
McGowan scored her first of three goals on the day in the second quarter to make it 7-2 in favor of Dartmouth with 9:04 to go until halftime. McGowan's goal marked the final goal of the half for either side. UMass put nine of its 13 shots on target in the first half and finished the day with 18 of 32 shots on frame.
 
Charlotte Wilmoth finished with two goals and put home the opening goal of the second half off an assist from Ava Connaughton. Dartmouth followed with four unanswered goals before Wilmoth found McGowan to make it 11-4 with 0:31 to go in the third quarter.
 
Dartmouth extended its lead to eight in the final seconds of the third and added two more to start the second to go ahead by 10 at 14-4. UMass rattled off three goals in 22 seconds of game time, with Morris opening the stretch before McGowan completed her hat trick 14 seconds later. Morris scored eight seconds after McGowan's goal to bring UMass within seven with 3:27 to go and completed her hat trick with 2:41 remaining. Wilmoth added the final goal of the day for the Minutewomen with 2:02 remaining while the Big Green added their final goal with 50 seconds left to bring it to a 15-9 final.
 
Catrina Tobin finished with 11 saves on the day with seven coming in the first half of play. Jordan Dean led UMass on the draw with eight controls while adding two caused turnovers. Lauren Tolve and Skylar Simmonds each added two caused turnovers for a UMass squad that finished with nine on the day.
 
The Minutewomen begin Atlantic 10 play on Saturday at George Mason with a noon start on ESPN+.
