Massachusetts Drops Final Matchup At Houston Classic To Nicholls

HOUSTON, TX. -- Massachusetts (3-7) dropped the final matchup of the Houston Classic with an 11-2 defeat to Nicholls on Sunday at Cougar Softball Stadium.
Massachusetts opened the scoring on the day as junior Lydia Castro reached base pushing Odyssey Torres across home plate for the first run of the day. Nicholls responded with a barrage of runs in the first, plating eight in the inning. The Minutewomen got one run back as an Abby Packard single plated Bella Pantoja in the third inning for their second run of the game. The third inning push was not enough however as Massachusetts dropped the 11-2 decision in four and a half innings of play.

- 2: Pantoja recorded two hits, including a double.
- 3: Freshman Odyssey Torres extended her hitting streak to three games.
- 7: Pantoja has now recorded a hit in seven of the last eight games for the Minutewomen.
