Massachusetts Swimming & Diving Prepares For Justin Jennings Invitational

The two-day event begins Friday, October 4, at 4 p.m., in Hamilton, N.Y.

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team heads to Hamilton, New York, for two days of competition at the Justin Jennings Invitational, hosted by Colgate. In addition to Colgate, the Minutemen and Minutewomen will compete against Le Moyne, St. Bonaventure and St. Francis.
 
The first day of competition begins Friday, October 11, at 4 p.m., before the final day takes place on Saturday, October12 at 10 a.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Massachusetts swim and dive program took on Boston College at home for its first meet of the season. The Minutewomen dropped the dual meet to the Eagles, 156-142, while the Minutemen fell, 186-114.
 
For the Minutewomen, the team picked up six gold medals and had 25 top-three finishes on the day. The Minutemen also had six first-place finishes and added 16 top-three finishes.
 
Broken Records
Junior Sammy Quigg secured two first-place finishes against Boston College, while swimming a time of 20.34 in the 50 freestyle, marking a new Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., Pool record. His time beat the previous pool record by 0.01 second held by a Boston University swimmer from the 2023-24 season (20.35). Quigg's time also met a new dual meet record for the Minutemen in the event, which Quigg held with a time of 20.38 last season.
 
Last Time At Justin Jennings
Last season, both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for a score of 2,022 to claim first at the Justin Jennings Invitational. The Minutewomen totaled a team score of 923 to take first, while the Minutemen placed first with a team score of 1,099.
 
The team victory for the Minutewomen last year marked the third consecutive win at the invite. In total, UMass won 10 individual events on the final day of competition and added 17 top-three marks.
 
Next Up
Both the men's and women's swim team host Yale on Saturday, October 19, for a dual meet at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., Pool. Diving events will begin at 11 a.m. with swimming events starting at 1 p.m.
