AMHERST, Mass. - The top-seeded and no. 13-nationally ranked Massachusetts women's lacrosse team plays for the Atlantic 10 Championship on Sunday at noon against no. 2-seed Richmond. The Minutewomen and Spiders begin play for the NCAA automatic bid at noon on ESPN+ from Richmond, Va.

The Semis
UMass picked up a 15-8 win over no. 4-seed Davidson in the semifinals on Friday behind five goals and three assists for Fiona McGowan. McGowan scored three straight goals to end the contest after the Wildcats pulled within four goals at 12-8 with 8:12 to go in the fourth. Alex Finn assisted on all three McGowan goals and finished with three goals and four assists for seven points.

Last Time vs. Richmond
The Minutewomen defeated Richmond 22-12 on March 11 in a top-25 matchup for the conference opener. Fiona McGowan scored six goals with two assists while Amy Moreau netted four goals and finished with six points.

Regular Season Champs
UMass won its 12th consecutive A-10 regular season title and 15th in program history after finishing the regular season with a 9-0 mark in league play. The Minutewomen began the run with a regular season title in 2011 and has claimed 11 of the last 12 titles outright.

Tournament History
The Minutewomen have claimed 11 Atlantic 10 Championship titles with the most recent coming in 2021. UMass won nine consecutive A-10 Tournaments from 2009-17 and won its first in the A-10 in 2000.

Major Award Winners
UMass claimed four major Atlantic 10 awards on Wednesday and landed 14 across the all-league teams. Fiona McGowan was named the A-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Amy Moreau earned the A-10 Midfielder of the Year nod, Audra Tosone was tabbed the A-10 Defensive Player of the Year, and head coach Jana Drummond earned A-10 Co-Coach of the Year honors.

Stay Winnin'
The Minutewomen hold the nation's third-best win percentage (.938) and are one of four teams in Division I with one or less losses. UMass is in the midst of a 15-game winning streak after the semifinal win and finished the regular season at 15-1.

Top-25 Rankings
The Minutewomen remained at no. 13 in the latest IWLCA/ILWomen Top-25 poll. UMass climbed from 24 to 20 after defeating A-10 foe Richmond in a top-25 matchup and moved up another four spots to 16 the following week earlier in the season.

Most Points Since 2021
Fiona McGowan recorded 10 points on four goals and six assists in a win over George Mason in the regular season finale. McGowan's 10 points marked the most in a single game by an A-10 player since February of 2021.

Getting Defensive
Audra Tosone ranked eighth among DI leaders in caused turnovers per game at 2.38 while her 3.00 ground balls per game ranks 13th nationally. Tosone's 39 caused turnovers this season is third most in a single season at UMass while the 75 for her career is fifth most all-time by a Minutewoman.

Among National Team Leaders
UMass holds the nation's second-best scoring margin by an average of 8.44 goals per game while also ranking second in ground balls per game with 20.56. Defensively, UMass is fourth in scoring defense at 7.69 while offensively, ranking fourth in points per game (24.50) and sixth in scoring offense (16.12).

Four-Time DPoW
Audra Tosone was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week a week ago for the fourth time this season. Tosone set a new program record with seven caused turnovers in a single game and secured seven ground balls in a win over Duquesne.

Fiona's Finds
Fiona McGowan finished the regular season as the assist and points leader in the Atlantic 10 and ranked among the top-12 nationally in multiple offensive categories. McGowan headed into the tournament ranked sixth among DI leaders in assists per game (2.62), ninth in assists (42), 10th in points per game (4.94), and 12th in points (79).

On The Draw
Sophomore Jordan Dean continues her move up the draw control rankings in the UMass record book. Dean's 174 career draw controls ranks fifth-most all-time at UMass while her 123 this season is fourth-most in a single season by a Minutewoman. Dean also ranks 11th among Division I leaders in draw controls per game with 7.25.
