UMass Softball Drops Final Home Contest Of Season To Merrimack, 6-1

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team fell in their final home contest of the season to Merrimack by a score of 6 to 1. The Minutewomen enter the final weekend stretch of the season with a 15-32 record, while Merrimack returns home with a 16-27 record.
The Warriors and Minutewomen were even through the second inning. At the top of the third, Merrimack logged two runs to take the first lead of the contest off an RBI double and a RBI single. At the bottom of the third, Bella Pantoja plated Chloe Whittier to get a run back. After a non-scoring fourth inning, the Warriors scored two more in the fifth and two in the seventh to claim the non-conference victory.
Jessie DiPasquale got the start in the circle, throwing nine strikeouts and allowing four earned runs in 4.0 innings of work. Jenna Bradley then entered the game for the remaining 3.0 innings, logging a strikeout and allowing two earned runs.
The Minutewomen wrap up their regular season slate this weekend in Virginia with three against George Mason on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6.
