#16 UMass Extends Win Streak To 10, Defeats Davidson 14-4

The Minutewomen tied their season-low for goals allowed in a single game with four while posting a 16-6 advantage on the draw.

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The no. 16-ranked Massachusetts women's lacrosse team tied its season-low for goals allowed and extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 14-4 win over Davidson on Saturday afternoon. The Minutewomen (11-1 Overall, 5-0 Atlantic 10) posted a 16-6 advantage on the draw and out-shot the Wildcats (9-3 Overall, 4-1 Atlantic 10) by 15 on the day.
 
UMass recorded a 5-1 advantage on the draw in the first quarter to help build a 4-1 lead after 15 minutes of play. Amy Moreau scored twice in the first quarter, including her 23rd of the year with 3:28 left to go to spark a stretch of three straight goals for the Minutewomen. UMass scored three goals in the final 3:28 of the quarter and found the back of the net twice in the final minute off goals from Fiona McGowan and Kylee Bowen.
 
Gina Carroll posted three saves in the opening 10 minutes of play and finished with five in total in 30 minutes in goal. Catrina Tobin closed out the second half in net for the Minutewomen and recorded six saves on the day.
 
After Davidson posted its second goal of the day by way of a Riley Moore goal with 13:39 to go in the second, UMass answered with six consecutive goals until the Wildcats added their third with 1:02 left in the quarter. Alex Finn recorded a second quarter hat trick with three straight goals, capping the stretch off with her 26th of season with 2:27 left in the second to put UMass up 7-2.
 
Charlotte Wilmoth posted two goals in the second half, including her first of the game to end the second before opening the scoring in the third with her 29th. Bowen added her second goal with 7:23 left to extend the UMass advantage to eight.
 
Davidson scored two straight to make it a 10-4 contest before UMass netted four unanswered to close out the win. Charlotte Clavelli posted her seventh of the season early in the third prior to goals from Kassidy Morris, Lauren Tolve, and Wilmoth that brought it to a 14-4 final.
 
Jordan Dean finished with eight draw controls on the afternoon to give her 129 for her career, passing Meghan Reddy (2006-09) for sixth all-time at UMass. She trails Reddy's 2009 season by just one draw control for 10th-most all-time in a single season by a Minutewoman.
 
The Minutewomen return home to Garber Field on Saturday, April 8 for a 1 p.m. draw against Duquesne.
