#16 UMass Wins Ninth Straight, Picks Up 18-5 Win Over Bonnies

Fiona McGowan scored a game-high six goals and finished with eight points as part of nine different Minutewomen to score.
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The no. 16-ranked UMass women's lacrosse team won its ninth straight game with an 18-5 win at St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. Fiona McGowan led the Minutewomen (10-1 Overall, 4-0 Atlantic 10) with six goals and two assists for eight points as part of nine different goal scorers on the day for UMass.
McGowan scored four of her six goals in the opening quarter and recorded her hat trick at the 5:53 mark of the first. Kylee Bowen opened the scoring with her 19th of the year off an assist from Charlotte Wilmoth before Erin Seibel connected with Alex Finn to put UMass ahead 2-0. McGowan followed with two consecutive goals and added her third after Wilmoth netted the fifth of the day for the Minutewomen.
St. Bonaventure (4-7 Overall, 2-2 Atlantic 10) scored two goals in the opening half and first found the back of the net with 3:13 to go in the first to make it 6-1 in favor of UMass. The Minutewomen out-shot the Bonnies 21-4 in the first half and finished the game with a 33-11 advantage in the category.
Finn assisted on McGowan's goal just over a minute after the Bonnies broke through and then followed with a man-up goal for her second of the game to put the Minutewomen ahead by seven. Finn finished the game with two goals and a game-high three assists for five points.
The Minutewomen ended the first with a 9-1 lead and extended their advantage to 10 at the halftime break. Charlotte Clavelli scored her sixth of the year at the 11:46 mark of the second before Wilmoth and Hannah Heller scored back-to-back goals in a span of 13 seconds to put UMass ahead 12-1 with 5:01 to go until halftime.
McGowan opened the third with two straight goals to give her 27 on the season before Erin Seibel scored to make it a 13-goal game with just over four minutes left in the third. Heller capped off the third with her second of the day and seventh of the season to bring the score to 16-3.
UMass closed out its scoring on the day with two more goals to open the fourth, with Wilmoth completing her hat trick as she scored her 26th of the season off an assist from Finn. Kassidy Morris became the ninth and final goal scorer for the Minutewomen with her 17th of the season with 8:56 to go to make it a 18-3 game.
The Bonnies scored two unanswered goals to bring the game to a 18-5 final and were led by a pair of goals from Courtney Fox.
Gina Carroll and Catrina Tobin each finished with a save in split time in goal for the Minutewomen while Amy Moreau secured six draw controls, caused a pair of turnovers and scooped up two groundballs for the UMass defense. Jordan Dean led the Minutewomen on the draw with nine draw controls for a UMass squad that finished with a 21-5 advantage on the draw.
UMass concludes its two-game road trip next Saturday with a noon draw at Davidson on ESPN3.
