#20 Women’s Lacrosse Resumes Atlantic 10 Play Tomorrow At George Washington

AMHERST, Mass. - The no. 20-ranked UMass women's lacrosse team resumes Atlantic 10 play tomorrow with a noon start at George Washington. The Minutewomen return home for their Hair Havoc game on March 22 against La Salle at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
UMass won its sixth straight game with a 14-9 win at Brown on a snowy Tuesday night matchup. The Minutewomen got off to a 5-0 start while five different players finished with two or more goals. Amy Moreau and Fiona McGowan each finished with a hat trick with McGowan adding four assists for seven points. Lauren Tolve added two goals and an assist with Charlotte Wilmoth adding two goals.
Top-25 Rankings
The Minutewomen moved up four spots in the latest IWLCA DI Poll to no. 20 after being ranked no. 24 most recently. UMass was ranked as high as 22 in the poll earlier this season on Feb. 20.
Turning Them Over
UMass leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks 22nd nationally in caused turnovers per game at 9.88. The Minutewomen also lead the conference and rank among the top-25 teams in the country in scoring defense at 9.62.
100 Career Points
Fiona McGowan surpassed the 100 career point mark in Tuesday's win at Brown. The senior has 62 career goals and 41 assists for 103 career points in 42 total games. This season, McGowan is tied for the team lead in goals with 18 and leads the Minutewomen in assists with 18.
Top-Five Win Percentage
The Minutewomen are among the top-five teams in Division I in win percentage, ranking fifth with a 7-1 record and a .875 win percentage.
Home Sweet Home
UMass is on a nine-game regular season winning streak at Garber Field dating back to last season. The Minutewomen won five consecutive regular season games on their home field last season and are 4-0 at Garber this year. UMass last lost a game at home on March 5, 2022 in non-conference play and hasn't lost a regular season league game at home since April 18, 2010.
Minutewomen Among National Leaders
Audra Tosone ranks 10th nationally in caused turnovers per game at 2.38 while Layton Nass ranks among the top-70 in the category at 1.5. Tosone also ranks 24th in ground balls per game. Offensively, Fiona McGowan ranks 13th among DI leaders in assists, 19th in assists per game, and 17th in points. Charlotte Wilmoth is 12th nationally in shot percentage at .643 with Alex Finn among the top-25 in the category at .600.
Looking Ahead
The Minutewomen return home to Garber Field for a Wednesday matchup at La Salle at 2 p.m. UMass then returns to the road for two consecutive games away from home, beginning with St. Bonaventure on Saturday, March 25 and will take on Davidson on the road the following Saturday.
