AMHERST, Mass. - The no. 24-ranked Massachusetts women's lacrosse team hosts no. 25-ranked Richmond in the Atlantic 10 opener tomorrow on Garber Field. The Minutewomen and Spiders begin action at noon on ESPN+.

Preseason Favorites
The Spiders and the Minutewomen were picked atop the Atlantic 10 preseason poll in early February with Richmond tabbed as the regular season favorites with UMass the runner-up. The Minutewomen placed three players on the A-10 preseason all-conference team in Amy Moreau, Audra Tosone, and Hannah Heller while the Spiders placed a league-high five on the preseason team.

Back-To-Back
Audra Tosone earned back-to-back Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the league late Monday. The senior caused six turnovers and secured 10 ground balls in a pair of road wins for the Minutewomen last week. Tosone forced Holy Cross into three turnovers and collected seven ground balls in a 16-10 win on Wednesday. In Saturday's 16-12 win at UConn, Tosone caused three turnovers, picked up five draw controls, and secured three ground balls while scoring a goal.

Rookie Of The Week
Catrina Tobin earned her first A-10 Rookie of the Week honor after recording 11 saves in 60 minutes in goal for the Minutewomen, including a career-high eight saves in a 16-10 win at Holy Cross. The freshman helped UMass rally from a two-goal halftime deficit by saving three shots with four goals allowed while earning the win in a 16-12 victory at UConn. Tobin finished the week with a 55-percent save percentage.

Home Sweet Home
The Minutewomen are a perfect 3-0 at Garber Field this season and have a nine-game winning streak in the regular season dating back to last season. UMass is outscoring the opposition 44-18 at home this year.

Turning Them Over
UMass averages 11.2 caused turnovers per game to rank ninth among Division I teams and second in the A-10 this season. Audra Tosone leads the A-10 in the category by averaging 2.5 caused turnovers per game and ranks among the top-10 nationally in the category. Layton Nass ranks second in the A-10 with 2.0 turnovers caused per contest and is 20th in the nation.

Helping Hand
Fiona McGowan leads the Minutewomen in assists with 12 on the season and ranks 24th among DI leaders in the category. Alex Finn has dished out seven assists this season to rank top-five among A-10 leaders and 84th in the country.

Securing The Rock
The Minutewomen rank fifth in the country in ground balls per game at 21.3 and are led by Audra Tosone's 2.83 ground balls per contest. Tosone ranks 37th among DI leaders in the category while Hannah Heller ranks 66th in the stat with 2.5 ground balls per game.

Among Active DI Leaders
The Minutewomen have three players inside the top-50 among active DI players in caused turnovers with Layton Nass ranking 29th, Amy Moreau ranking 36th, and Audra Tosone ranking 46th. In goal, Gina Carroll ranks 30th in goals against average for her career at 11.4 while ranking 49th in career saves with  197.

Looking Ahead
UMass plays its next two games on the road as it breaks from A-10 play to take on Brown in Providence, R.I. on Tuesday evening. The Minutewomen conclude the two-game road trip on Saturday, March 18 at George Washington.
