Trio Of Minutewomen Ranked In ITA Northeast Regional Rankings

Farima receives ranking of No. 17 in singles, while Hack and Jonglertrakul duo rank No. 10 in doubles.
AMHERST, Mass. – Rising sophomore Renata Farima has been ranked No. 17 in the final ITA Northeast Regional Singles Rankings, while the duo of rising junior Danielle Hack and rising sophomore Thamonpan Jonglertrakul rank No. 10 in the ITA Northeast Regional Doubles Rankings, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday evening.
Farima is one of five rookies to land in the top-20, joining Maxi Duncan of Harvard, Sabine Rutlauka of Penn, Victoria Hu of Princeton and Miyuka Kimoto of Syracuse. The Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, native, is the first Minutewomen to be placed on the list since Janja Kovacevic and Jodie Lawrence-Taylor earned the No. 17 and No. 19 rankings, respectively, in 2018-19.
Hack and Jonglertrakul are the only doubles pair on the list who completed their first season of collegiate tennis, as Massachusetts did not compete in the 2020-21 season. It also marks the first UMass duo to be ranked on the chart since Laura Morena and Yrazusta claimed the No. 4 ranking for the 2017-18 season.
Farima finished her rookie season with an overall singles record of 13-4, including a 4-2 record in Atlantic 10 play. She primarily competed at court No. 1, tallying an 11-4 record in the slot. Throughout the season, the Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, native, collected seven A-10 weekly honors, claiming A-10 Rookie of the Week six times, while securing A-10 Performer of the Week once. She also tabbed the A-10 Most Outstanding Rookie of the Year and was named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team.
Hack and Jonglertrakul ended the 2021-22 season with an overall doubles record of 7-4 and an A-10 Conference record of 3-2. The pair primarily played at court No. 1, posting a 5-4 mark in the spot, while going 2-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Massachusetts concluded the regular season with a 15-4 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in the A-10 Conference. UMass also completed its home schedule with an 8-0 record, while going undefeated in the months of February and March. The squad won the last six matches overall and 15 of the last 17, overall.
