Regular Season Champions; Minutewomen Edge Wildcats in Final Regular Season Contest

AMHERST, MA. – The Massachusetts Women's Lacrosse team closed the 2022 regular season at 15-2, and a perfect 9-0 in Atlantic 10 play with a 13-11 come from behind win over the Davidson Wildcats.
Fiona McGowan nearly notched the socktrick today with five goals to lead the Minutewomen. Kelly Marra contributed two goals, while six other Minutewomen found the net.
Senior Gina Carroll picked up her 15th win with four saves.
The Wildcats jumped ahead to a 3-0 lead before Fiona McGowan netted the first goal for UMass.
The Wildcats led for three quarters as the game saw three ties, with Davidson pulling away after the first two. It was Kelly Marra's goal with 13:20 to play in the fourth that gave UMass their first lead of the contest,
Though they trailed most of the contest, the Minutewomen outshot the hosts 32-17, putting 25 on goal.
The Minutewomen defense was still dominant, causing 21 Wildcat turnovers, and picking up 21 ground balls.
UMass won 15 draw controls, led by the heroics of freshman Jordan Dean with seven draw controls on the day, with four straight in the fourth quarter that led to goals for the Minutewomen.
Massachusetts has solidified themselves as the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic 10 tournament, set to be hosted at Gartber Field in Amherst on April 28-May1.
