Petrovich Heading to NCAA Zone Diving in Annapolis

AMHERST, Mass. — Massachusetts junior Emma Petrovich will compete in the 2022 NCAA Zone Diving Championships, held this week at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis, Md.

"We're excited to see Emma qualify for Zones this year. Her steady improvement has been impressive. 'Said head coach, Sean Clark, 'She's focused on adding some new dives to her list this season, and it will be a great experience for her to compete with the best divers in the region."

The Wellesley, Mass, native will be competing to earn a spot in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held in Atlanta, Ga., March 16-19.

Emma Petrovich led the Minutewomen in multiple meets this season to earn a spot in the 2022 Zone competition. She led the dive program to a one-two finish in the one and 3-meter Dive, posting a top-score of 240.80 at Colgate, followed by another first-place in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 265.43 at Boston University.
 
She finished the regular season with her last first place finish day in the pool, taking first in the 1-meter dive with 268.05 points and in the 3-meter with 250.80 against Dartmouth in Massachusetts's final meet before the 2022 A10 Championships.
 
The NCAA Zone Championships will begin on Monday with women's one-meter springboard ad will continue Tuesday with three-meter springboard. Platform will be contested on Wednesday.
Zone A will receive five qualifications to the NCAA Championships in both one-meter and three-meter diving, based off last year's performance by Zone A divers at nationals.
The top 18 divers from morning prelims will qualify for evening finals, with all scores carrying over. Each of those 18 divers will complete their full allotment of six dives in the evening, and the top combined scores from morning and evening will advance to nationals.

There will be 77 entrants in one-meter diving and 61 in three-meter.
