Massachusetts Picks Up First A-10 Victory Over St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team picked up its first A-10 win of the season with a 22-4 victory over St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon. Charlotte Wilmoth led the charge with six goals for the Minutewomen, while preseason A-10 player of the year, Haley Connaughton, notched her 200th career point.
Charlotte Wilmoth tallied six points to lead the Minutewomen as 13 UMass players found the net in the contest. Julia Smith, Olivia Muscella, Fiona McGowan, and Tessa Shields each had a multi-goal outing.
Brinley Anderson, Kylie Bowen, Erin Seibel, Emma Farnham, Kelly Marra, Kendra Harbinger, Sam Irwin, and Hannah Young each tallied goals in the contest.
Courtney Barrett led the defensive effort, with two ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Amy Moreau caused two Bonnie turnovers. Anderson contributed two ground balls in the contest as well.
Ginna Carroll picked up her seventh win of the season.
The Minutewomen out shout their opponents 43-12 and won the 21-9 ground ball advantage.
UMass jumped to a 7-0 advantage early in the first stanza before the Bonnies scored with :36 seconds to play. St. Bonaventure scored their final three goals during the second quarter and would not find the net for the rest of the contest.
After St. Bonaventure's last goal, the Minutewomen rattle off 13 to seal the 22-4 victory.
Massachusetts will return to action on Sunday, March 27 at Duquesne with a 1:00 p.m. first draw.
