Second consecutive home game awaits Minutemen
ATTENDANCE POLICY: In accordance with UMass' COVID-19 protocols, all home games will be closed to spectators this season. The decision was made following consultation with local public health and university officials and in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order prohibiting large capacity venues from opening to the public.

- UMass men's lacrosse ended a 368-day streak between games played when it defeated Fairfield, 13-9 on Sun., March 14
- This is the longest gap between games in program history, which dates back to 1954
- Massachusetts last started a season on or after March 14 in 1995 when it opened at No. 1 Virginia on March 19
- The 1995 season was current 27th-year head coach Greg Cannella's first at the helm of the program
Rolling Squad Deep
- Massachusetts began the season with 49 student-athletes on its roster
- The 49 student-athletes represent the largest roster in program history
- It includes six graduate students, seven seniors, nine juniors, 13 sophomores and 14 freshmen
Troop Alphas
- Graduate students Charlie O'Brien, Billy Philpott, Jackson Suboch and Jeff Trainor will serve as team captains during the 2021 season. It is O'Brien, Philpott and Trainor's second consecutive season as captains and Suboch's first.
- O'Brien totaled six points over the seven-season in 2020 on two goals and four assists, while he added six groundballs and two caused turnovers. All six points came in the final five games of the season.
- Philpott posted 16 points through 14 goals and two assists during 2020. As a two-way midfielder, Philpott also had seven groundballs.
- Trainor finished third on the team in 2020 with 20 points via 14 goals and six assists. He also scooped up 12 groundballs and caused six turnovers during the season as he went on to win Inside Lacrosse All-America.
Legend Has It The Wrist Is Magic
- Chris Connolly entered the 2021 season with 75 assists in his 38 career games, the 11th-most in the history of the program.
- He remains four assists away from passing Fred Menna (1976-77) in 10th with 78. Connolly recorded at least one assist in 29 of his 39 career games.
- The 36 assists he notched as a sophomore in 2019 tied for the 16th-most in one season in program history.
The Rarity Of A Rookie Between The Pipes
- UMass started true-freshman goalie Matt Knote in the cage during all seven games of the 2020 season
- He was the first true-freshman goalie to start the season-opening games since current associate head coach Doc Schneider did so in 2006.
- Knote totaled 412:38 in the cage over his seven starts. He posted a 11.57 goals-against average and .526 save percentage in that span.
