Hiller claims A-10 Defensive Player of the Week accolades
After leading UMass to a pair of victories last week, senior goalkeeper Lauren Hiller has been named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

The North Andover, Mass. Native made five saves on 11 shots faced in 42 minutes on Monday at UMass Lowell, backstopping the Minutewomen to a 21-8 victory. She followed it up with 15 saves and one ground ball against Ohio State on Sunday to help UMass to a 21-16 win.

Offensive explosion
It's been a big week for the Minutewomen, who potted 21 goals in each of their last two games at UMass Lowell and against Ohio State last week. Overall, Massachusetts is tied for 10th in the NCAA averaging 17.00 goals per game on the young season.

It's been scoring by committee for UMass, though, with Haley Connaughton (13 goals, seven assists) and Kaitlyn Cerasi (12 goals, eight assists) tied for the team lead with 20 points, while Emma Dotsikas trails close behind with four goals and 11 assists.

UMass tops No. 5 Boston College for highest win in program history
After seeing No. 5 Boston College storm back to erase a four-goal deficit and take a 10-9 lead with 13 minutes to play, UMass responded in a massive way by scoring six of the game's final seven goals to knock off the Eagles on Feb. 8 at Garber Field, 15-11.

The win was UMass' first over a top-five team in the history of the program, and the first victory against a ranked opponent since beating No. 10 Colorado in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

UMass picked second in A-10 Preseason Poll
Richmond, the defending conference champion, was picked to win the league with six first-place votes, followed closely by the Minutewomen in second with four first-place votes.
