Tennis Learns Atlantic 10 Championship Seeding

Minutewomen to play as No. 3 seed in upcoming tournament

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts tennis will compete as the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, from Wed., April 24 through Sat., April 27. As the No. 3 seed, the Minutewomen plays in the first round on Wed., April 24 against No. 14 La Salle at Noon. The winner moves on to the quarterfinals and faces either No. 6 Richmond or No. 11 Dayton on Thurs., April 24 at 6 p.m.

Massachusetts concluded the regular season with a 17-4 overall record and a 5-1 mark in Atlantic 10 competition. Their conference victories came against No. 5 Davidson, No. 6 Richmond, No. 7 Fordham, No. 8 Rhode Island and No. 12 Saint Joseph's and the Minutewomen suffered their lone loss to No. 2 George Washington.

The squad enters the Atlantic 10 Championship winners of their last seven matches overall and 15 of the most recent 17. The Maroon and White produced consistent success on the road and at home, with a 9-1 record in Amherst as well as a 7-3 mark away from campus. Massachusetts won its lone neutral site match of the year, a 4-3 triumph over Richmond on Wed., March 13 at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina.

Massachusetts reached the Atlantic 10 Championship Match in 2018 as the No. 6 seed in last year's tournament, the lowest-seeded team to ever reach the finale.
