Softball Unveils 2020 Regular Season Schedule

The 49-game 2020 campaign opens up on Feb. 14 at the Upstate Classic in South Carolina.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts softball team announced its 49-game schedule for the 2020 season on Wednesday afternoon. The Minutewomen open up the 2020 campaign on the road in Spartanburg, S.C. on Feb. 14 and will take the field at Sortino Field for the first time in the spring on March 25 to host Siena.

The early season tournament schedule begins with four games in two days at the Upstate Classic hosted by South Carolina Upstate featuring the hosts along Buffalo, Maryland Eastern Shore and Oakland. The Minutewomen will then head to Greenville, N.C. Feb. 21-23 for the Pirate Invitational for the second consecutive year after going unbeaten in five games at the tournament a season ago. UMass takes on ACC opponent Pittsburgh twice during the three-day tournament and will face host East Carolina on Feb. 22.

UMass wraps up its non-conference tournament schedule with the USF Tournament and the Liberty Challenge, heading to Tampa, Fla. on March 6-8 for five games featuring 2019 NCAA Tournament teams in USF and Wisconsin while also facing off against Iowa State. The Minutewomen wrap up the tournament slate on March 13-15 at the Liberty Challenge in Lynchburg, Va. and will take on Binghamton, Albany, Liberty and Northern Illinois.

Atlantic 10 Conference play opens up on March 21-22 with a three-game series at Fordham beginning on the 21st with a noon doubleheader. UMass resumes conference action after their home opener against Siena on March 25 when they remain at home to host Dayton on March 28-29.

The April schedule begins on the first day of the month as the Minutewomen welcome in Boston College to Sortino Field on April 1 for a single game before returning to Atlantic 10 play on the road at Saint Joseph's the following weekend. UConn will also come to Sortino Field as part of the non-conference home schedule on April 22 at 4 p.m.

The 2020 Atlantic 10 Championships will be held in St. Louis, Mo. at the Billiken Sports Center on May 6-9 with the top-eight teams in the regular-season standings earning a spot in the four-day double elimination tournament.
