Anderson Leads Women's Lax To 15-8 Win Over Patriots

Redshirt junior scores seven goals in road victory at George Mason.
FAIRFAX, Va. - A seven-goal effort by Kiley Anderson paved the way for the UMass women's lacrosse team in a 15-8 win at George Mason on Friday evening. The redshirt sophomore's offensive production set a new single-game career high and stands as the third-best single-game effort in program history.
The Minutewomen improve to 10-3 overall and stay unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play at 5-0 this season. That increases the program's NCAA record to 59 consecutive league wins.
In addition to her seven goals, which came on eight shots, Anderson also notched a team-best nine draw controls. Cassidy Doster and Hannah Burnett each notched a pair of goals while Burnett also added two assists. Stephanie Croke had a career-high four assists, while also leading the team with three caused turnovers and three groundballs.
Holly Turner had a goal and two assists which set a new career record for the program giving her 121 over the last four seasons.
George Mason (9-4, 3-2 A-10) was led by Corinne Wessels who scored four goals, while Chachi Kelehan had three goals.
Lauren Hiller earned the win in cage for the Minutewomen making seven saves. Mason keeper Melissa Semkiw made 12 saves in the loss.
Overall, UMass held a 37-20 shot advantage and won 14-of-25 draw controls in the game.
Mason led 2-1 just six minutes into the game, but UMass responded with four consecutive goals over the next five minutes. The Minutewomen expanded on that advantage thanks to the seven-goal effort by Anderson in the first half for a 11-4 lead at the intermission.
Both teams managed four goals in the second half.
UMass will return to action on Sunday at George Washington with a Noon opening draw. The game will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
