Staying Power
Head coach Greg Cannella now approaches career win No. 200 as he enters his 24th season at the helm of the Minuteman program, one of the longest tenured coaches active in Division I men's lacrosse. He is the second-longest tenured head coach at one institution and fifth nationally in terms of total years spent as a Division I head coach. Cannella began his time as the leader of the team ahead of the 1995 season and, since then, won 10 or more games during seven campaigns. He guided the Minutemen to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and currently stands at 197-140 overall (58.5 win percentage).

Carr In The Driver's Seat
Senior attack/midfield Buddy Carr leads the team and ranks first in the conference with 27 points through seven games (3.86 per game). It comes through a balanced effort, as he is second in the CAA for assists per game (1.57) and stands sixth in the league with his 2.29 goals per game.
Carr's 27 points eclipsed the Exeter, New Hampshire, native's single-season best of 26 earned as a sophomore in 2016.
Scoring In Heaps And Bunches
UMass posted 17 goals against NJIT, the most by the program since the team downed Quinnipiac, 18-5, on March 10, 2015. The 14-goal margin of victory was also the largest for the program since a 17-3 win over Providence on March 16, 2010.
If It's On The Net It's In The Net
Jeff Trainor scored on all four of his on-target attempts over the opening three games. It included one goal each at No. 16 Army and vs. Sacred Heart before the sophomore second-line midfielder potted two tallies against Harvard. He is now 9-of-12 scoring during on-target shots this season following the game against NJIT (75.0 percent).
Tobin Tabbed To Top Midfield
In his first four starts as a member of the first-line midfield, Kevin Tobin averages 2.5 points per game with 10 via five goals and as many assists. He had a goal and two assists against No. 11 Yale before he potted two goals and assisted on another against No. 1 Albany, scored once against NJIT and posted three points at UMass Lowell. Tobin is second among freshmen in points (11) behind only Chris Connolly (16).
Real Recognize Real
The Tewaaraton Foundation announced Isaac Paparo as a candidate for the Tewaaraton Award when the organization unveiled its 2018 watch list during a Thurs., March 1 ceremony. It marks Paparo's first career selection to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, while he is one of only four members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) listed, including Hofstra's Dylan Alderman and Jack Concannon and Towson's Zach Goodrich.
Paparo is in his second season as a starter on close defense and third overall year as a key contributor for the program. Including the game at UMass Lowell, Paparo owns career totals of 90 groundballs, 50 caused turnovers and eight points via four goals and as many assists.
The Westport, Connecticut, native set the program's record for caused turnovers in a season since the NCAA began official recognition of the statistics in 2010 with 33 over the 15-game slate in 2017.
Locked Down On D
UMass men's lacrosse limited NJIT to three unassisted goals during the team's 17-3 victory on March 10, 2018. It was the fewest goals allowed by the Minutemen since an 11-3 victory over Hartford on March 1, 2016.
The Minutemen limited the Highlanders to 12 total shots on goal while NJIT turned the ball over 19 times and failed seven of its 14 clears.
Massachusetts had not given up three or fewer points in a single game since the team won 15-2 over Brown (three points) on March 1, 2014.
