Paparo Picked For NEILA Preseason All-Region First Team

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts junior Isaac Paparo earned selection to the 2018 Division I NEILA Preseason All-Region First Team, as selected by coaches in New England and announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon. Paparo is in the early stages of his second season starting on close defense and currently ranks as the active leader among Minutemen with 43 career caused turnovers alongside 78 groundballs.

Paparo set the program-record with 33 caused turnovers as a sophomore last season - a statistic the NCAA officially recognized prior to the 2010 season. He split his first two completed seasons between long-stick midfielder and close defenseman, and received second team All-CAA in both campaigns.He was NEILA All-Region Second Team at close defense following the 2017 campaign. Two games into his junior season, Paparo owns five groundballs and four caused turnovers.

The 5-foot-7 native of Westport, Connecticut, will compete on the Israel National Team for the FIL World Championship this summer.

Massachusetts returns to action following a bye-weekend with a Sat., Feb. 24 tilt against Harvard at Garber Field. The first faceoff will occur at 3 p.m.
